The \u201cPuig Campana\u201d is Finestrat\u2019s greatest mountain and a prominent landmark on the Costa Blanca. It provides an excellent location for a broad variety of activities for outdoor enthusiasts due to its heights of 1,410 meters and its location of only 10 kilometres away from the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n

The mountain is shrouded in legends, the most famous of which tells the story of the French hero Rold\u00e1n. It states that Rold\u00e1n cut the notch in the mountain\u2019s west face, which is also know as \u201cEl Portell\u201d or \u201cTajo de Rold\u00e1n\u201d, with his sword \u201cDurandarte\u201d. This happened during the final battle against the Moors which took place on \u201cPuig Campana\u201d. The knocked out piece of rock was catapulted into the Mediterranean and is now known as the \u201cIsla de Benidorm\u201d.<\/p>\n

The western face of \u201cPuig Campana\u201d is the place to be for climbers. Here they can find a broad variety of classic multi-pitch routes, the most famous of which is \u201cEspolon Central\u201d which meanders up the prominent ar\u00eate in 14 pitches.<\/p>\n

Walkers are attracted by the mountain\u2019s east face where they can reach the summit either by the prominent gully or via the north face of the mountain. From the summit there is a unique view towards the coast and Costa Blanca\u2019s backcountry. But the awesome views are also accessible without getting to the summit by taking routes like the circular route \u201cVolta de Puig Campana – CV 289\u201d which guides the ambitious walker around the \u201cPuig\u201d. Most of the scenic walks start at \u201cFont del Moli\u201d and take, depending on the selected route, between 4 to 8 hours.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the mountain is also a destination for cyclists who can find their fun on the variety of single tracks surrounding the \u201cPuig Campana\u201d.<\/p>\n
