The<\/span> “<\/span>Fiestas<\/span>” in<\/span> Finestrat<\/span> are held<\/span> around every<\/span> 24th of August<\/span> for over a hundred<\/span> years<\/span>. The<\/span> “<\/span>Fiestas” are<\/span> dedicated to the patron<\/span> saint of the village<\/span>, San<\/span> Bartolom\u00e9<\/span>, and<\/span> the<\/span> Sant\u00edsimo<\/span> Cristo del<\/span> Remedio<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n During the celebrations<\/span>, the village is<\/span> colorfully decorated<\/span>. The<\/span> locals<\/span> gather<\/span> to wine and dine<\/span> in<\/span> the so-called<\/span> “<\/span>Penyas” –<\/span> small<\/span> bars<\/span> in<\/span> garages<\/span> and<\/span> private houses<\/span> that are open<\/span> only<\/span> for the<\/span> “<\/span>Fiestas”.<\/p>\n Fireworks<\/span> are an everyday occurrence<\/span>, whether<\/span> early in the morning<\/span> to get up<\/span> “<\/span>Las Despert\u00e1s<\/span>“, in the evening<\/span>, to say goodbye<\/span> to the day<\/span>, or simply<\/span> to celebrate<\/span> a big party<\/span>, the<\/span> “<\/span>Correfoc”.
